Hook Heart Partnership with Blood Cancer UK
The House of Shaun Leane is proud to announce its partnership with charity, Blood Cancer UK; a special and personal partnership for Shaun himself.
In appreciation of Blood Cancer UK's pioneering work, Shaun will donate 10% of sales of his renowned Hook Heart bracelet and matching pendant, crafted in sterling silver or 18ct gold vermeil and tipped with pavé-set diamonds. This iconic design features a 'double-hook heart' silhouette - signalling a profound statement of solidarity and admiration towards a vital cause.
Blood Cancer UK is the UK's largest organisation dedicated to beating blood cancer, investing over £500 million so far in furthering world-class research and campaigning for transformative treatments. Over 40,000 people a year are diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK, adding to the 250,000 already living with the disease. Prognosis has shown improvement in recent years but there is work to be done.
Shaun knows personally that knowledge is power when it comes to cancer. His mother, Diane, has been living with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia for 15 years. Devoted to learning everything he can to help his mother's condition, Shaun explored all avenues possible for treatment, bringing him to a fateful moment, four years ago, in Marylebone, London, whilst attending a fundraising event. He was introduced to Gemma Peters, Chief Executive of Blood Cancer UK. She encouraged Shaun and his mother to meet the UK's leading expert in blood cancer, Professor Peter Hillman; a meeting which has proved to have an enormous positive impact on Diane's condition.
Shaun contemplated the connection between his artistry and the best way to publicise the message that information and knowledge are essential when living with cancer. "Blood Cancer UK had a new logo - a graphic heart - with two fast curves that fold in on each other," Shaun says. "It lingered in my mind. Not only did it remind me of my Hook Heart silhouette, but of the need to get the message across quickly and as clearly as possible. There is no ambiguity when it comes to cancer."

"The message has to be strong. This is about love; caring for another person by spreading awareness of new treatments and remedies for blood cancer. Knowledge is power."

Shaun’s determination to help others lead him back to his workbench where he spun hope through his creativity and diligent fingertips. "The Hook Heart bracelet and necklace were a eureka moment", he confirms.
The Hook Heart motif - two enclosing hooks uniting into a bond-forming heart - is a play on classic shapes and traditions; asking us to stop and think; to notice and observe.
In honour of Shaun's mother and all whom have loved ones beating cancer, and in commemoration of Mother's Day this year, the House of Shaun Leane will donate 10% of sales of our classic Hook Heart bracelet and pendant this spring to Blood Cancer UK. "There is nobody more important to me than my mother,” surmises Shaun. “There is no stronger bond. I want to signal solidarity to all those seeking support for blood cancer.”
